Frontispieces in Romanian Byzantine Style in the 15th-16th Century

As a decorative element, which opens a text, the frontispiece is present in the Romanian illuminated manuscripts since the first works elaborated on the territory of the Wallachian Lands. Like the entire Romanian illuminated manuscripts, the frontispiece is also an adaptation of Byzantine art, the Wallachian Countries assuming the role of keepers of Byzantium after the Byzantium.
